Untamed
Untamed by Glennon Doyle is one of the most popular books of the year. It is part memoir, part inspirational self-help book; personally, I enjoyed the part that was memoir the best.
Doyle tells of her life-long struggles with addiction, eating disorders and mental health issues; of marrying the wrong person and always fitting into society, but of losing herself. Then she meets soccer star Abby Wambach and falls instantly in love and her whole life changes from that moment on.
It is without a doubt a great story. But by the end I felt like I was being preached to, and in fact Doyle is a life couch and there is a lot of coaching going on here. Most of her advice is great, so I didn’t mind too much, and her activist work through Together Rising is something everyone should know about and contribute to if they can. That being said, it took me forever to get through the end of the book, I kept putting it down as I found it so tiresome, but maybe that’s just me.
